Welcome to the January 2023 PPWA newsletter

Welcome to 2023 and what a year we have planned for our members!! Plans for our own State Pro Photography Awards are now well and truly underway and a new outlook and a new State Awards committee with some fresh eyes are really bringing this to life. An accreditation process is in the later stages of planning and we are preparing to launch it early this year. Some EPIC events with both educational and social outlooks are planned along with our amazing sponsors.

  1. How did you start in photography?

I took photography in year 11 and 12 and was lucky enough to do work experience and assisting with a professional photographer in Albany. I was hooked after that and went on to study photography at TAFE for 3 years gaining my Advanced Diploma.

How did you start in photography? When I was 12 I used to save all my money in order to buy a film Canon reflex with interchangeable lenses. Every week I was bringing a roll of film to be developed by the lab.

What is your genre and how did you fall into that genre? I love Motorsport, Food and Commercial photography. All my family is passionate about Motorsport and Food.

Hey all,

So, on Thursday night we held our inaugural 10 Cubed event down at the The Shoe in Yagan Square.

We had a full crowd listening to 10 amazing speakers, the likes of Natasha Du Preez, Kate Robinson, Alan Wallace, Dion Robeson, Stef king, Jenna Mason, Robert Frith, Tyler Brown, Davis Broadway and Johannes Reinhart.

It was a huge honour to host this event and huge thank you to the committee for all their help putting this event on.

On Sunday, Camera Electronic held their annual PhotoLive Expo and we had the privilege of being able to highlight Pro Photography WA, chat with many of the visitors and catch up with friends.

I was like a kid in a candy store as I wandered around looking at the amazing deals on offer, not to mention all the candy we had at our display.

Events like these just show how strong the Photographic community is here in WA.

There were awesome speaker sessions from the likes of Alex Cearns, Denis Glennon, Adam Levi Browne, Steve Wise, Shelley Pearsons, Riger Groom, Ecria Serena, Ben Broady, David Dare Parker and Sev Mozhaev.

As well as workshops by Mel Cieslik, Nick Melodonis, Adam Monk, Ian and Erick, Ryan Ammon and David Le May.

All in all a great day, and the after party was just as fun ;)
